On Leave Spring Term 2004

I received my B.A. from Cornell University in 1988, my M.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 1994, and my PhD., also from Hopkins, in 2000. I have been at Manchester since September 2000. My research interests centre geographically upon North America, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic World, temporally upon the period between 1660 and 1776, and topically upon social, cultural, and gender history and material culture. For details, please see my c.v.

I am director of the University’s American Studies exchange programme, which allows Manchester undergraduates to spend one or two terms studying at one of approximately a dozen top-ranked American universities. For details, please consult the Exchange and Visiting Student Unit.

Prof. Joseph Bergin and I co-ordinate the History Departmental Seminar. For this term’s programme, please click here.
